About

Beluga Lake Observatory is a small backyard observatory located near the shores of Beluga Lake, in Homer Alaska.  Astronomy is a difficult hobby for Alaska.  During the warm times of the year, it does not get dark, and during the dark times of the year it is often cloudy, and always cold.  Having a permanently mounted telescope makes it much easier to grab a few minutes (or a few hours) of telescope time, without the considerable time needed to set up, so I built this small roll-off roof observatory in 2006.  Since then I have spent many hours observing, and taking photos of the night sky.  I hope you enjoy some of the photos I have posted here.
